In another life I’m a Booktuber.
* inspired by a thought that popped into my head this morning.
In another life I go downstairs and make breakfast for the kids. In another life I carefully run a brush through tangled hair. In another life I say yes to the man with blue eyes. In another life I sign the divorce papers and free myself. In another life I stay in a hostel and don’t know a single soul. In another life I go cold water swimming every Sunday. In another life the world makes sense to me. In another life I turned him down for that drink. In another life I write novels about “complicated” women. In another life my adult children only visit once a year. In another life I’m a doting grandmother. In another life I fell in love with a woman who felt like home. In another life I can digest gluten. In another life I was blind from birth. In another life I was forced to leave my country. In another life I’ll die from starvation. In another life she didn’t get cancer. In another life we’re kittens together.
This is beautiful and haunting. I believe it was Cheryl Strayed who called these the ghost ships of sister lives that didn’t carry us.
Love this. I called my mother after reading this, so I won't be a distant daughter in this life 😁
