Loved this!

Interestingly, I find a significant overlap between friends of mine that are into tarot/astrology and friends of mine that are academically trained scientists. I’ve explained it as those that have done the hard inquiries and the benchwork know that we are at the mercy of what we don’t understand more than we know or care to admit.

I'm forever grateful to you for opening the doors to Tarot for me, first through your course Tarot for your inner child and then 78 Mirrors. You make Tarot accessible, as the self discovery tool it can be.

Laughed out loud about the vanishing date. I had an experience like that many moons ago (no loss). The artwork on a deck is what draws me to them. I have an original Ryder-Wait that I was never able to “feel”. So it gathers dust in a drawer, while I happily cavort with my animals and nature inspired decks. Actually thinking of getting another but can’t decide which of three is whispering the loudest. Sigh.

Hahaha! HD is not for me either. A friend is super into it and gave me a beautiful detailed reading. And for the life of me I can never remember it either 😅

So I *did* grow up in a religious house with parents who were deeply suspicious and fearful of the occult. Discovering that I used tarot and oracle cards was very upsetting for them. But I tried to explain to them this exact same idea. It isn't about the cards. It's about how I feel about the message they are trying to convey.

And as a massive science-y nerd, tarot isn't incompatible with my understanding of the universe. I'm happy to keep a little mystery. To keep growing in knowledge and wisdom. And hopefully a little humility 🥰

Yes to this: "tools for self inquiry, support and healing." I have recently just started to investigate the world of Tarot, having thought they were all woo-woo and future forecasting for years. How wrong I was! Any tool that widens perspective and opens doors to different ways of thinking is helpful. Thank you for sharing this. I am now intrigued by your course.

Thanks so much for teaching me about the happy squirrel! That was a gift this morning.

Thoroughly enjoyed this read. Got me thinking about how so much of what we experience is open to interpretation and there’s really no “right” way to navigate a life. Thank you.

I have you to thank for opening the world of tarot and oracle cards to me. First through your Inside Story Course, and then through Daily Guidance and 78 Mirrors. I love those courses and am now obsessed with tarot and oracle cards. I love collecting decks and using them for self-growth. I’m with you: it’s not about predicting the future; it’s about understanding myself deeply as a person 💗

I really loved this... I adore Oracle and Tarot... they are such lovely anchor points or sparks for contemplation. I have a slight deck obsession... really need to do a sort out and pass on the ones I don’t use anymore! I’m the same with astrology... it doesn’t sink in. I do love HD though. It’s so wonderful to read how other people weave the cards into their lives!

Haha I love that Simpsons clip, and I find there is actually a lot of truth in it. ;) The cards ARE quite vague, because they have to be! If they can take on any question (which I believe) then their meanings must be very fluid and flexible. Thus, it can be hard even for those who've read cards for decades to decipher them flawlessly every single time they interpret a reading...

I'm getting a little disappointed that none of my indie decks have a Squirrel card😔. Well there's always hope.. I am curious to know what it means in the different decks.

Discovered you via an IG follower who thought I’d connect with you (adhd, introvert I think? deeper connection here...).

I’ve been reading tarot for .... 37 years! And astrology :) Now that’s a psychological goldfield! I agree that that tarot has become more mainstream, more a ‘tool for self discovery’, but it’s still very niche and most people have negative ideas about them.

I like the idea of weening out the anti-tarotists lol but mostly I dislike missing out on possible great connections because of one small part of my life. However, for a potential life partner, that’s a great tactic! 😆🙌🏼

Great article! I used to be very good at reading cards but I had a traumatic brain injury in 2004 and I have such a hard time remembering things now lol! I still lay out my cards each morning - part of my morning ritual - but I don’t think I would want to read for someone else now! Right now I’m stuck on my Steampunk deck right now!

I AM a witch lol! An old neighbor lady started me when I was 8 yrs so I’ve been practicing for about 58 years! I also practice Hoodoo. However, like you I don’t really believe the cards tell you the future as much as they help guide you. And I’ve never been able to get into astrology because all of those charts and diagrams are so complicated!

At my age I don’t do much anymore - I’m just too lazy I think! So I’m the “Witch on Canary Lane” and I have tea and feed the wildlings on my property and hug trees and - read Tarot! lol so Merry Meet all!

The last time I said I liked pieces of (shiny) cardboard that told me something and made me think I got into tarot and magic the gathering. I now have a vast collection of all sorts of magic cardboard (pun intended!)
